Incentive based funding opportunities:

A number of incentive based funding mechanisms have recently become available by the FHWA for Owner Agencies who may be looking to implement innovations such as prefabricated bridge elements and systems and other ABC related strategies into their program or projects.

-- The most recent is the FHWA’s Accelerated Innovation Deployment (AID) Demonstration grant program.  Under this program, approximately $15 million in incentive funds will be issued for innovation deployment.  Applications are currently being accepted and can be submitted by visiting the following website AID Demonstration Link

-- The State Transportation Innovation Council (STIC) Incentive Program that was announced last September provides each STIC up to $100,000 to advance innovations into statewide, standard practice.  State DOTs are encouraged to work with their local FHWA Division Offices regarding the STIC program. For more information, please visit: STIC Link

-- Section 1304 of MAP-21 allows State DOT’s to increase their Federal participation share by up to 5 percent on eligible funded projects. Information can be found at the following link: MAP-21 Innovation Link
